The Ness Botanic Gardens, located in the tranquil area of South Wirral, were created as a result of Arthur Kilpin Bulleys' passion for plants. The gardens were founded in 1898 and are now one of the most important botanic gardens in the UK. This is a fantastic place to visit even for those who don't have the 'greenest of fingers'. Visit the gardens in spring or summer and witness the beautiful rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, magnolias and many other flowering trees and shrubs. Summertime at the gardens boasts lilies, primulas and herbaceous boarders as well as unique climbing plants – a must see for visitors to the gardens.

If you're planning to visit the gardens in autumn or winter, don't think there won't be plenty of gorgeous botany to see. Autumn colors are at their finest with beautiful autumn bulbs, maples and sorbus while winter houses a wide selection of trees and shrubs with colored fruits, bark and stems. Other highlights of the gardens include the water garden, the laburnum arch, the heather garden, rock garden and the all year conservatory. Throughout the year the gardens are the location for many and various events such as music recitals, guided walks and star gazing parties. During your visit you can relax at the cafe, browse through the gift shop or drop into the visitor centre. Choose from one of our top quality hotels near the gardens or head back to Liverpool city and stay in one of our Four Star, Five Star or Cheap Hotels.
